Publication date:

Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Fire Safety Direct Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline Year: 2022
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:
This baseline includes Scope 1 and 2 emissions, and key Scope 3 sources such as business travel and fuel-and-energy-related activities. Prior to 2022, Fire Safety Direct had not formally assessed Scope 3 emissions, so 2022 forms the first complete reporting baseline.
Baseline year emissions:
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO₂e) |
Scope 1 | 30.5 |
Scope 2 | 14.2 |
Scope 3 (Included Sources) | 24.8 |
Total Emissions | 69.5 |
Justification of Emissions Estimates
Fire Safety Direct Ltd operates a fleet of 18 vans delivering fire safety services across South Wales. Our Scope 1 emissions are primarily attributed to fuel usage from these essential vehicles. Scope 2 covers electricity consumption at our main operational base, and Scope 3 accounts for business travel, procurement logistics, and related supply chain activity. These figures have been calculated using realistic operational data and verified emissions factors, providing a credible baseline. As part of our ongoing sustainability strategy, we are actively planning to transition 50% of our fleet to electric vehicles by 2027. This commitment will significantly reduce our direct emissions and demonstrates our proactive approach to achieving Net Zero by 2050.
Current Emissions Reporting
Reporting Year: 2024
Emissions:
EMISSIONS | TOTAL (tCO₂e) |
Scope 1 | 25.3 |
Scope 2 | 11.8 |
Scope 3 (Included Sources) | 22.1 |
Total Emissions | 59.2 |
Emissions Reduction Targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets:
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 40.0 tCO₂e by 2030. This is a reduction of 42% from the 2022 baseline.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives:
Since the 2022 baseline, we have implemented the following:
– Replaced all internal and external lighting with LED and PIR-controlled systems
– Upgraded to Euro 6 compliant vehicles and reduced van mileage through job clustering
– Switched office electricity to 100% renewable energy tariff
– Introduced remote site survey tools to reduce travel
– Implemented ISO 14001 Environmental Management System
These initiatives achieved a carbon reduction of 10.3 tCO₂e, equating to a 14.8% reduction from our baseline.
Future Initiatives:
We plan to:
– Transition 50% of our fleet to electric vehicles by 2027
– Further digitise our operations to minimise paper use and courier emissions
– Conduct energy audits at our premises and implement insulation upgrades
– Join the Science-Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) for verified target alignment
